The Gift of a Used Car

Thanks to the generosity of two HIP supporters, one of our newest Transitional Housing families no longer has to depend on bus schedules or expensive ride-hailing services to go about her daily routine and care for her family.

Her older model car was in poor shape when she moved into HIP housing and it soon broke down completely.

Imagine for a minute the complexity and accumulating costs of getting to work, doctor appointments, school pickups, the grocery store and other errands for a working mom and her three children.

The mind reels...

We reached out to our network of supporters and one offered to donate a gently used, but reliable car. Chris Long of Princeton Volvo agreed to provide the necessary maintenance work for a reduced fee and also managed the very time consuming process of transferring titles and registration with DMV! Hats off to both!
